Sampling, Processing and Quality Control Methods

Step by Step Procedures
Step 1:
Description:

Continuous plankton recorder (CPR)

Data indicate presence of nematocysts in samples collected by the CPR

Sampling Area And Frequency:
the samples have been collected generally monthly along the routes of merchant vessels of opportunity that covered an area between 35-65N, 75W-15E
Sampling Description:
The CPR Survey rely upon the ships of opportunity, therefore the spatial coverage is based on those. The Survey ensures a good sampling coverage on the Northwest European shelf and in the eastern and western Atlantic
