Enable third-party cookies

We use DataONE authentication services for sign in, which uses third-party cookies created by DataONE. Your browser must have third-party cookies enabled for this website in order for sign in to work. You may re-enable third-party cookies once you leave this website.

DataONE only uses a cookie for sign in to DataONE member repositories. The cookie will not be used to track your activity on non-DataONE repository websites.

  1. Open Preferences by clicking on Safari in the Mac OS toolbar at the top of your screen
  2. Click the Privacy tab.
  3. Uncheck Prevent cross-site tracking.

  1. Open the Chrome Settings via the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner of the application.
  2. Click the Privacy and Security link from the left menu.
  3. Click Cookies and other site data.
  4. Choose the Allow all cookies option.

You will need to add DataONE as an exception to Firefox's default cookie settings. To do so, follow the below steps.

  1. Click the menu icon in the upper-right corner of Firefox
  2. Click Settings
  3. Click Privacy & Security in the left menu
  4. Scroll down to Cookies and Site Data
  5. Click the Manage Exceptions button
  6. Type cn.dataone.org into the Address of website textbox and click Allow
  7. You will see two entries for cn.dataone.org in the Exceptions list. Click the Save changes button

  1. Click the menu icon in the upper-right corner of Firefox
  2. Click Preferences
  3. Click Privacy & Security
  4. Choose the Standard option

  1. Select the gear in the upper-right corner of the screen, then select Internet Options. If you have the Menu Bar enabled, you can select Tools > Internet Options.
  2. Click the Privacy tab.
  3. Select the Advanced button.
  4. Under Third-party Cookies choose Accept.
  5. Click OK and you have successfully set your cookie settings in IE.

  1. At the top right, click the Menu button, then Settings.
  2. Click View Advanced Settings.
  3. Set Cookies to Don’t block cookies.

Disable privacy browser extensions

Check if you have installed browser extensions or plugins that disable third-party cookies or "trackers", and disable these extensions for this website. A few popular examples are shown below.

Privacy Badger

Privacy Badger is a popular privacy extension and it allows you to disable/enable cookies for certain sites by hovering over the icon and switching the slider to the green check mark. Make sure that all "dataone.org" sites are enabled.

uBlock Origin

Click on the uBlock Origin icon in your extensions/plugin list and if "dataone.org" is listed in red or as a blocked site, turn off uBlock Origin for this site by clicking the power icon and refreshing the page.
