Morpho Data Management Software

Morpho allows you to create and manage your data, and to share it with others. It was created to provide an easy-to-use, cross-platform application for accessing and manipulating metadata and data (both locally and on the network).

Morpho allows ecologists to create metadata, (i.e. describe their data in a standardized format), and create a catalog of data & metadata upon which to query, edit and view data collections. In addition, It also provides the means to access network servers, in order to query, view and retrieve all relevant, public ecological data!
The basic operations that can be carried out using Morpho are:

Download Morpho

Download the Morpho data management application. An easy-to-use installer is available for various platforms (the preferred method), or you can download a compressed archive (zip, gzip).

To run Morpho, you must have Java installed on your computer. If you already have Java 1.3 or later you should download the "Morpho only" distribution.

If you need Java (or if you have no idea what Java is, or whether you already have it installed), you can choose to download the "Morpho with Java" distribution, but note that it is much larger.

If you are Ubuntu user and already have Java 1.5 or later, download a Morpho zipped file:
  Linux
  Note: after unzipping the file, users can start Morpho by going to the terminal and typing in ./morpho from the install directory (morpho-1.6.1). If there is a problem it may be that the JAVA_HOME path needs to be set to Java version 1.5 or greater. The user .bashrc file can be edited to reflect the Java version that was updated or installed. example: export JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun/ (path to Java install directory).
If you already have Java 1.3 or later, download a Morpho installer:
  Windows   ::   Linux   ::   Mac OSX (Java already part of OSX)
If you need Java (or don't know), download a Morpho installer with Java (larger downloads):
  Windows   ::    Linux    ::   (Mac OSX already has Java - see above)
Download the last version compatible with Mac OS 8 and 9
( No new versions of Morpho are available for Mac OS 8 and 9. Upgrade to Macintosh OSX is highly advised)
  Mac OS 8 or 9   ::   Mac OS 8 or 9 (includes Java)
